Abuja, Nov. 24, 2016 (NAN) Mrs Kaneng Rwang-Pam, Principal Communication Consultant, Centre for International Private Enterprises (CIPE), says media partnership with empowered private sector will revive the country’s economy and end recession.

Discussing the role of media in effective business advocacy in Abuja on Thursday, she observed that the media was cardinal to promoting business opportunities and informing the stakeholders and the Federal Government of the need to provide enabling environment.

Rwang-Pam noted that Nigerians should “look inward to grow the country’s economy, especially now that the country is in recession and the price of crude oil has fallen.

“The media has a role to play; there is need for advocacy in form of corporate responsibility, to let the Federal Government and policymakers see reasons why private sector should be given an environment conducive to operate businesses,’’ she said.

She explained that Nigeria had more than 20 million educated young persons who could be engaged in various business ventures by training people, especially women and providing incentives to boost job creation through CIPE.

With this promise, Mrs Nkiru Okpala, the National Coordinator, Association of Nigerian Women Business Network (ANWBN), said the association would key into business initiatives in collaboration with CIPE.

“ANWBN had, in its capacity and with the support of CIPE, tried to identify some of the impediments to the survival of women-owned businesses in Nigeria,’’ she said.

She pleaded with the Federal Government to provide an environment conducive for business as a major driver for positive competitiveness, job creation and citizen’s participation in sustainable development.

“We believe ANWBN has created a relationship which will culminate into a huge growth on our national economy,’’ she said.(NAN)
